the prompt for this being 'joke' was almost identical to the first Soriel Week's day 1 prompt back in 2016, so this is actually a redraw of an older piece that I will Not link to because it has aged like milk.

anyway the idea here was that up on the surface, Toriel and Sans might occasionally still tell jokes with some sort of physical distance between them the way they used to, like it's a comforting habit for them :> I put a lot of time into making all the background elements match and feel warm and cozy, and even a year later I'm still very fond of how this turned out 🍂
