posted last year, edited last year

This plush was made in 2023 for my partner and I's 7th anniversary ( I know it's not from this year but I want to share it anyways ). Of his Orca fursona, Cryptid. He is completely hand-sewn without a machine, is weighted, and features crinkly fins and tail. This is the first plush I've ever made and his pattern was created by myself as-well. His scars are painted on with acrylic paint.

I learnt a lot with this project, the first ( and saddest ) lesson is to invest in proper materials. Unfortunately proper fabric is usually too expensive so I opted to use fleece blankets instead which proved a mistake. The material is horrible and collects a lot of hair and dust, so unfortunately he is more of a "show" teddy. I forgot to flip his dorsal fin facing inwards when sewing it to the body so you can see the stitches, and his tail is much too small.

One day I'd like to make him again using proper materials and making slight size adjustments with the pattern but this was a good first try!
