The Moorish shoes with the curled tip can be found throughout many cultures in the Middle East, as well as all the way to the Balkans and Southwest Asia.

DIO’s shoes were the main reason I made my DIO fashion zine, as it felt pretty culturally insensitive that people would always mock them and refer to them as 'jester shoes' when they were very clearly Middle Eastern footwear - and not even obscure Middle Eastern footwear at that.

Needless to say, this is one of my favourite illustrations in the entire book.
