Who is Miyako Maki, may you ask?

Miyako Maki, alongside Moto Hagio, were the grand-mommies of the Shoujo manga genre (Manga made for girls, by girls). She was also married to the late Leiji Matsumoto, and collaborated with many manga projects with him. Also, she is the creator of the Licca-Chan doll, which I adore to this day.

So I drew Celes Chere as Maria in the style of Miyako Maki. I'm not much of a fan of FFVI like I was in the old days, but I love the artwork and character designs in the game, plus, some of the FFVI characters are endearing and likable.

I created this in a mock oil painting style. What is a mock oil painting may you ask? It is an art style using oil based color pencils and oil pastels to make what I call a mock oil painting. I blend and smooth out the pigments with baby oil, and wash the paintbrushes with soap and water. It is a fun style, plus, no toxic chemicals nor flammable materials involved. I might use this style a bit more at times. I enjoy making mock oil paintings, alongside watercolors, acrylics, gouache, and ink. So much to work with.
