I just got done watching "Ponyo by the Cliff by the Sea" recently, and I must say, it is one of my favorite Miyazaki films ever made (alongside My Neighbor Totoro and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind). So, I decided to pay homage to the film by customizing a Takara Miki-chan doll into Ponyo herself.

I re-rooted Ponyo's hair with auburn alpaca doll I got off of Etsy. I made her outfit with 100% wool felt, a fabric that would not fray or be too tight. I tried other fabrics to make Ponyo's outfit, but they either were too tight, or frayed too much to the point of the fabric being unusable. I also gave her a light face up, since a lot of the doll's previous face up was faded.

To be honest, I had a lot of fun working on Ponyo here. Alpaca doll hair is perfect to use to make characters with either spikey or wild locks. Ponyo's hair is short and wild, so alpaca doll hair was perfect for her.

I might make Sousuke pretty soon, since I think he is a cute character as well. Also, it will be my first male doll I've made in a long time. Stay tuned everyone.
