Hello! This journal will be mostly dedicated to writing about lore and rambling about my OCs and why i love them so much.
When creating characters for campaigns, i usually don't like making flawless characters. It makes them boring to play. Instead, i give them multiple flaws or make their features aligned with what makes sense for their backstory. Sometimes, i even give them fears, fobias or manias. Not because it gives me an particular advantage (it's actually a great disadvantage), but it makes things more interesting.
Artwork will be linked through IMGUR since I'm not sure how the imbed image feature works lol.
For example,
Atticus Tchekov
Rogue Sinner, Fighter Rune Knight
Atticus is a changeling rogue with the typical sad backstory:
He was born into a clan of changelings who ran the underground society of his birth town, responsible for most of the organized crime in the area. Whenever his clan got found by authorities, they'd switch bases to remain undercover.
Atticus' dad was extremely abusive, which led to Atticus escaping and leaving his siblings behind, which was one of his deepest regrets.
Even to this day, he wears scars of his abuse.
He inherited his drinking problems from his father. He became a rogue, just like his father. Even in the absence of his father, he's still deadly afraid of spiders.
When around people he feels safe with (usually, his party), Atticus will wear his true face instead of hiding behind his many personas. Though that doesn't mean he's completely honest with them. Lying and cheating helped him survive and he's not abandoning these habits any time soon.
Likes helping his friends (even if he doesn't admit that his fellow party members are friends), will do anything for gold and loves playing cards (be careful, he cheats!).
Iris C Aster
College of Whispers Bard
Iris was born in the Feywild, blossoming from an Aster flower.
Her domain was one of ever changing colors, that matched the predominant emotions felt by its residents.
The kingdom her village resided in and it's citizens were very musically inclined, appreciating every melody and performance.
Her small fairy village was no different. The houses were built atop giant flowers (aprox. 1,52cm in height) and surrounded by flowering trees. Sometimes, when the Feywild's magics would cause the realm to change and shift, the flowers and trees would turn into giant mushrooms. The people of this village were very cheerful and would often exchange songs and serenade each other
Though the bright colors and cheerful performances of her village have brought on unwanted guests; Other humanoids had taken notice of the fairy inhabitants of the village and had begun to stalk and kidnap them. Keeping them as pets, using their wings as decorations or using them for nefarious purposes.
Watching her friends being taken one by one have caused Iris to grow an immense distaste for non-fey creatures. Making her more likely to play pranks, steal from them or lead them astray.
She always uses her charm to enchant and distract humanoids around her so they'll be oblivious to her more nefarious objectives. Which either involves stealing teeth to keep as part of her collections or stealing someone's wallet (not because she needs gold but because she likes hoarding it).
Serena Cottonheart
Artificer Battle smith
I've never really gotten the opportunity to play as Serena. But i have made her an NPC in one of my campaigns.
A Threadborne built by Roxanne Leland and trained in the arts of artificing. At first, she had been created as a mere assistant to Roxanne, helping around the forge with whatever her creator needed.
Eventually, as Roxanne got older and as Serena got more advanced, Roxanne started training Serena to substitute her once she passes away. This way, her forge would be kept into trustworthy hands and continue to be ran exactly how she wanted it to be for centuries until Serena broke down.
To help her in her endeavors, Serena and Roxanne have built multiple little dolls that help with small tasks around the shop, like retrieving tools or small objects.
Serena will never really be ready to leave Roxanne, even if she knows that her creator's end is near. No matter how hard she tries, she can't shield Roxanne from her eventual demise.
Syrus Shihlūin
Light Domain Cleric
Again, Syrus is not a character i really got to use despite being one of the first DnD characters I've ever made. I might reutilize him as an NPC.
Lizardfolk are often described as cold, unfeeling and selfish. But Syrus is anything but that, he tries in every way he can to help others and aid them, for that's what his goddess Mishakal would want.
He has her symbol (A blue infinity symbol) emblazoned onto his shield, which he would use in combat to concentrate his spells. His robes are the same ones he'd use in his temple teaching doctrine, so they also have ver symbol etched onto them.
Outside of combat, he uses an amulet as his holy symbol. To exorcise and pray.
Mishakal found him in a very hopeless point in his life.
His parents died in a horrific accident that couldn't have been avoided.
Syrus felt lost and without direction but she reached out to him and finally gave him purpose. Without her teachings, he wouldn't be the man he is today.
He's different from other Lizardfolk, not just physically, but also socially. He's a chameleon, which makes him be seen even as unreliable even in his own community. And his caring nature is often seen as a facade, like he's hiding his true intentions through a mask. But he isn't.
Anyways, enough rambling about my characters. If you've read until the end, thank you for staying! If you didn't, I don't blame you.
I hope my concepts were interesting to you in some way and i hope to see you next time!
Farewell for now.
