The stage is set; Year 2XXX. Mirai, Tokyo Prefecture.

The urban sprawl is always expanding, reaching ever new heights with the help of state-of-the-art technology - and the city of Mirai is no execption. Around over 30 years ago, the soon-to-be citizens of this city came up with a brand-new energy source - Groove. Nobody knows where Groove originated from, but one thing is certain; its driving fuel comes from music, it gives life to new, unordinary scenery and sapient creatures through digital screens, and the people who were exposed to it began growing "aura" within themselves, as if they were slowly attuned to it.

Groove Coaster is Mirai's main attraction; a game, a sport, and a piece of art, entirely built out of the power of Groove itself. As the rail of light appears in the distance of a projected landscape powered by song, the player (or rather, "Groover") is tasked to follow that rail with the right rhythm until that tune is over, usually played by wearing a pair of special headphones in order to "be in trance" with the music.

But within the ever-growing array of musical compositions that are playable within the contents of this game are a couple that makes its most notorious urban legend; that being the "eight secret tracks". Different than your usual unlockable tracks in a typical rhythm game, these songs are said to be the hardest in all of Groove Coaster. Yet, how you unlock them varies from rumor to rumor, either through crazy complicated instructions or something as vague as "when a Groover has proven its worth". Stories of those who managed to catch a glimpse or play one of these tracks had surfaced, whether it be through online sites and discussions or word of mouth, yet assumptions regarding the existence of these tracks were erased and easily disproven by those in behalf of Groove Coaster's development, some even against or forbiding certain online communities of the game to dispute over such thing.

But the existence of there being hidden tracks in Groove Coaster at all is made and left uncertain - at least to the public eye, it may make them wonder: Were these just leaks of new songs for an upcoming update or have they been existed in game from the very beginning?

But when they are reserved to a certain few - it is neither of those things.

Not by fate, but not even by happenstance - eight different lives residing in Mirai had discovered each of the rumored secret tracks all by their own. However, rather than winning or losing any of these tracks, strange incidents only began appearing within the game, around them, in front of them, and even within them - as they help awaken mysterious Fae-like entities who claim to be manifestations of the secret tracks and a past incarnation of themselves.

Where do these entities come from, and how come they have such strong relations to their human selves? Is this even everything that the people behind Groove Coaster were hiding? Everything will be answered and revealed as the subjects of this story deal with their own lives, their sense of self, and what the game has beyond its surface...

Blessed be, successors of Groove.

Who's ready to read some unexpected loredump for my weird and esoteric AU series for a rhythm game that nobody's probably ever heard about? Oh boy, I sure hope you do!

(thumbnail image is basically a cropped version of the "Teaser Art" I shared here not too long ago lmao - I'll probably get around with a better pic later)
[If you didn't know, Got uncertain future? is an AU fan-project based on Groove Coaster: Future Performers and the Got series of songs by E.G.G. You do not need to know/play/listen to the source material first before reading this, however!]
