Sonic and Transformers fan! I write fanfiction and draw fanart.
It's a little strange to see how much more popular furry fandoms are here compared to fandoms centered on human(oid) characters. I know that it makes sense, given that the mascot of the site is a furry, and the rules were clearly written with the expectation that furries would join the site (such as clarifying rules around nudity for fur-covered characters, or clearly differentiating between anthro and non-anthro animals when it comes to allowing nsfw). But still, I'll look up the most popular Sonic ship and there will be many rows of art, but when I look up the most popular Mario or Legend of Zelda ship, there's like one artwork.
As funny as it is, I do hope that this site gains widespread use among other fandoms, especially given how clogged up Deviantart has gotten. (And other art sites don't feel quite as "warm" as this one. This may be a little controversial to say, but some Deviantart alternatives feel rather corporate in their design aesthetics)
When you want to comment on a neat effect on an artwork, but the comments are disabled 😢
(This was unintentional on the artist's part, and a result of a slow internet connection on my end, but one artwork I clicked on started off very pixelated, grew more detailed in its pixelation, then finally revealed a lovely and detailed piece. 🖼️ ✨)
Does anyone know if there's a way to disable gifs auto-playing when they're user pfps? In one tag I like to browse, one user has posted a fair amount of artwork in it, but their profile picture is a very flashy gif that goes from light to dark, over and over again, and it's incredibly distracting as I try to browse the art.
One thing I tried was "reduced animations" in the settings, but that didn't appear to have any effect on the user's profile pic. I would prefer not to block them if any other solution is possible, as I generally reserve blocks for people who are legitimately rude or harassing towards others. I'm not sure if muting is an option on here either. Has anyone else been able to resolve this issue?
I just noticed in one of my artworks* I left an uncolored area, and I just...auugggh! I caught a lot of other errors while making the piece, but not that one...? It wasn't even a singular object I forgot to color, just a random blank spot in the middle of the thing I was coloring. It was a lightly-colored area, so I don't think it's too blatant, but I'm still facepalming at how I failed to catch it.
Funnily enough, I made a "fandom experience bingo card" when I first began seriously posting about my blorbos online, and I distinctly remember one of the slots being only noticing a mistake in something after you posted it.
Guess this at least means I can fill that spot now? (That is if I can find it...)
*WON'T tell which one! XD
My Mastodon server is down, can't post or boost a thing on my account, and I just remembered that journals are a thing here that I've never used. I'm sure my admim will fix it soon, but in the meantime I feel all twitchy, especially since today is the day I usually post a fandom poll. I guess I've been taking my server for granted. 😟
A paranoid part of me is wondering if I'm the one who broke it or something, because I was the last one to post to public timelines...and mere minutes later my next post wouldn't publish...silly, right 😅
