So recently I got into a game called Bust A Groove.
I really like it, very fun albeit hard to play due to my lack of rhythm. The characters are interesting, the music is great, the direction and concept are neat. Overall I really like the games! I def recommend playing it if you like rhythm games.
Back to the artwork. So the style is based off the character select artwork of Bust A Groove 2 done by (presumably?) Hideyuki Tanaka in the PSX version of the game. It's so good, so of course I tried to replicate it with Flora as the subject! I had a ton of fun stylizing her like this. I sketched this in firealpaca, I've been drawing in that program more often. With this I used a pen tool with the opacity lowered. After finishing the sketch and rough colors I finished this in inkscape.
Anyways Flora was a good pick for replicating this style, her design fits along with the wacky characters in the franchise. For the colors I tried to color pick the colors off the official art first and see how the characters were colored. Then tried picking colors that fit her. I might need to make a copy of this with her variations. I'd totally love to have a pink version of this as my laptop bg. Ended up posting this one since it's the most presentable. BTW this is just the web version the OG is a lot bigger.
