Also known as the puma, catamount, mountain lion or panther, this large feline has the most names out of any mammal within the English language. They're more related to cheetahs, lynxes and even housecats than the actual big cats such as lions, tigers and jaguars in which they're often mislabeled as "big cats" despite them not being able to roar. These agile cats are found in North, Central and South America in a variety of biomes from sweltering deserts, steamy rainforests, forests and even grasslands. They prey upon mammals such as deer, elk, horses, antelope, and small rodents like porcupines, pacas and beavers.
