Here's a Red-crowned Crane: a Vulnerable, though sadly soon to be endangered crane species native to the snowy wetlands of Eastern Asia, specifically China, Mongolia, the Kamtcha Peninsula and Russia with a non-migratory population resides in Hokkaido, Japan. Red-crowned cranes have been a cultural symbol of fidelity, good fortune and love for millennia and are threatened due to illegal hunting, pollution and ongoing drainage and loss of their wetland home due to human encroachment.
