Detective used to be the Riddler, a dark soul in a dark city. They've been making many changes to themself in the past few years, and they're doing much better now, really.

Detective was the first within their multiverse to realize they were even in a multiverse, and sought out others like themself. They were also the first person Helix encountered when she first entered their world. Deciding it was important to befriend a person like her, Detective dangled just enough information in front of her to entice her to stay.
