They were created by this talented toy craftsmen to make coping with the loss of his son easier (Pinocchio inspo), who also enchanted their "heart" in order to bring them to life as a golem! They were given an order that gave them limited sentience, until the day the craftsmen left for good - leaving them behind in the only home they'd ever known with a new order that granted them full sentience.

Unable to cope with all these new emotions that had been forced on them, they hid in this building until it literally crumbled around them and only then did they move on. Eventually they met a bunch of fae kids around the same age and now they're happy in the forest :3 I like to think they're gonna end up making themselves a new body when it's time to "grow up" with their friends!
