its no secret that ive build rodrigos personality on being Obsessed With Gaining The Love Of His Birth Mother, Please Oh Please, Oh Please Love Me Mother How I Yearn For Your Acknowledgement Why Wont You Love Me, but how does this impact epifania? who famously hates orchidee? well. rodrigo may be a fop but he isnt a complete idiot. he does realize that aspects of his character are concerning to her, so he sometimes overcompensates. such as lavishing her with a metric ton of flowers while shes on her sickbed, great gatsby style. shes genuinely touched, but what is she going to do with all these fucking flowers, son? eat them, probably. shes a cow after all

when i originally conceptualized this, i imagined an older and grayer epifania. but im not really sure what the lifespan of minotaurs in this world should be! i do think it would be fun to see how isotta would get on without her. she would totally backslide on all her character growth, LOL. anywho, heres rodrigo being a good little lad and showing his momotaur that he really does love her. just not the same as orchidee

oh! one more thing. this piece is heavily referenced off of one of the illustrations in paul o. zelinskys rapunzel. i had copies of this and his rumpelstiltskin as a child (and still, now) and adored the renaissance style and how many details he would use. i could spend forever looking at all the tiny animals and plants hidden in his gigantic scenes. so i borrowed one of these scenes to make this little bed nook
