ive drawn orchidee wearing ottones ring several times, and it kind of begs the question... for someone who doesnt want to be there and does not claim her "former self," why did she start wearing it?
originally ottones, this ring was probably a gift from donata ordelaffi for his.... maybe graduation, or marriage. edelweiss began wearing it after his death - much to his brothers' chagrin - and she died in it too. its possible that in an episode of good will brought on by knowing she was about to die, edelweiss bequeathed it to the daughter she hoped eubora would retrieve. but it got me thinking about a freshly dead edelweiss laid out for a viewing, and her maids bringing in orchidee to pay her respects, since at this point they dont really believe her when she says she doesnt remember any of this and WHY is she here??? perhaps in a fit of vindictiveness, orchidee saw the ring on this cold dead hand and said, "fuck you you nasty old dead old raggedy old dead BITCH, im taking this, fuck ya life." of course, this would necessitate me figuring out what funerary practices look like in a city built off of necromancy where the neighboring kingdoms call it "the city death forgot." idk
there has to be some reason she feels compelled to wear it... after all, shes a silver jewelry gal, and ottones ring doesnt match! i think once she figures out that the ring is important to ippolito and gioffre, she begins showing it off as much as possible. kiss the ring, idiot
