An example of the popular noble tradition of painting master and apprentice before on-field studies begin. The Lady Orchidee was the second of the Ordelaffi line to be tutored by Master Eubora; her father, Ottone, also studied under his tutelage. Here, the student's wavering smile can be interpreted as either nervous excitement, or a wince of pain - as at the time, the wounds of her scarification were not yet healed.
