the four panels at the top could have been their own pages if i truly hated being alive. nevertheless, theyre important in driving home the unending tedium of working for a hysterical forest hag. adeleta has great reflexes after dodging so many things thrown at her head
other notes - ippolitos cameo in panel three, as well as orchidee being called "la signorina," signals that orchidee is not yet married. if she were, she would be called "la donna ordelaffi di visconti." ippolito is a major source of stress for orchidee in these first year back. hes spent decades trying to wrest the palazzo from edelweiss, and in the time during which she was dead and orchidee was not yet returned, he nearly reclaimed it. he stops by frequently to threaten and yell-negotiate with orchidee, who is disinterested in bargaining because she doesnt remember him, doesnt want to be here, and at the very least wants her own secure and isolated home away from everyone else. he tries every loophole in the book to get the house out from under her. part of why orchidee consents to marrying isotta is because isotta is more landed, and as the "more prestigious" of the two, orchidees properties would be glommed onto hers. isotta taking control of the palazzo ordelaffi through marriage successfully secures a safe home for orchidee and seelie, and sends ippolito seething into the shadows. wait a minute, im getting off topic...
my favorite part of this page is pomonas big dopey face, and seelies reflection in her ginormous eyes. i think its important that we only see seelie in bits and pieces in this comic. its meant to communicate that others do not see them as a person, and portrays them as more a boogeyman than part of the household
