Nasięźrzale, nasięźrzale,
Rwę cię śmiale,
Pięcią palcy, szóstą, dłonią,
Niech się chłopcy za mną gonią;
Po stodole, po oborze,
Dopomagaj, Panie Boże.
Fern Flower (Kwiat Paproci), according to the myth, blooms for a very short time on the eve of the summer solstice in the light of full moon (celebrated on June 21, June 23 or June 24). It has multiple magic properties such as bringing fortune to the person who finds it or allows humans to understand animal speech. It's closely guarded by evil spirits and though the one who succeeds in gathering it can receive earthly riches, that attainment has always brought ill luck, so some prefer to leave it alone.

This challenge was really special for me - when I saw that the prompt word is "floral" I immediately knew I had to bring my Polish tradition and myths in. Character depicted on the illustration is my OC - Nasięźrzał (also called Aestas) - they are personification of summer, magic and they are that mythical fern flower one can find in the forest during Noc Kupały. I rarely have occasion to talk about my native beliefs and myths connected to my own art but this one was a chance for me to do that and I'm happy I could write about it a bit!
