A drawing of Godzilla based on his appearance in the 1978-1979 Hanna-Barbera cartoon. Anyone else remember this cartoon? It was what we had before Godzilla The Series. He’s the mighty protector of the Calico Crew. Hanna-Barbera’s Godzilla has several key designs that separate him from his film counterpart. Examples include he’s depicted as a green monster in the cartoon whereas almost all other incarnations of the character have a black-to-grey color palette. I guess it’s because green is commonly associated with reptiles. His signature attack is to breathe fire in the cartoon, while most iterations have a radioactive, atomic breath beam. Despite its appearance Godzilla’s fire breath is also noted to be atomic in nature. He’s also the only incarnation of the character that can shoot lasers out of his eyes.

(Oddly enough the Hanna-Barbera cartoon was my first introduction to the Godzilla character as a little kid. And I still think this version has a pretty cool design).
