Perhaps a bad habbit but I typically don't use references when I draw backgrounds, mainly because I worry about taking to much from it or not being able to accurately match the vibe of the reference. THIS is an exception though! Awhile ago my partner and I went on a hike on some trails around this really pretty wetlands, and I was very drawn to the half melted pools of deceptively deep mud and water
I have a few more pictures from this hike I'd like to use as a refence since this one came out surprisingly well imo : ] the oc pictured is caliber, and hulking wolf who guards a sword embedded into their back. Just fit the landscape i was working with
