Today's the day! I'm officially 24. :)
I feel like just about everyone who wants to be on toyhouse has gotten a code by now, but just in case, I thought I'd go ahead and make a little journal. I have 283 invite codes. So if anyone wants one, or wants 10, or wants 50, just let me know! :3
gone are the days when people were extorting art for these things! i had to draw two halfbodies for somebody for an invite when I first joined almost 9 years ago LOL
51, technically...
Thank you guys so much for following along with my work! I was a bit worried the smallness of the site would make it not very active, but I absolutely love the community here. There's so much amazing art and people are so willing to favorite and comment and interact, even (and perhaps ESPECIALLY) on things that aren't fanworks. It's really refreshing! I've enjoyed my month on this site so far, and here's to many more! <3

Be as positive as you can be and try not to skip any questions! However, don't force yourself to be untruthful. It's okay if you can't answer something.

What do you like the most about your art?
I like the way I cel shade, I think the different layers of color and shapes look really cool when I go all out :3
What is your favorite part of the creating process?
Posting! Honestly artists who draw for an audience get a lot of hate sometimes but I genuinely enjoy sharing my work with others. I have a ton of respect for the people who draw for the joy of creating but personally my biggest motivation of connection. I'm trying to say something! It may be something as silly as "I like fish," but I'm still trying to say it!
What are your favorite colors to use? Do any consistently show up in your OCs/designs?
I'm big into warm colors. I especially likes reds, blues, and purples. Add a hint of yellow and now we're REALLY talking. But also, I tend to sort of color code my OCs, so there's a pretty good variety!
What are your favorite brushes/tools to use?
I love this Wiggle Brush by spriggiestuff, and this similar Wobbly Pen by daytea. I also have been using a WIDE ARRAY of halftone brushes lately- I have dozens, but my favorites are the d0ttie!tones brushes v2 by crunchylemonade that went around a few months ago on Twitter. They were free when I got them, but they're 10 Clippy now. I would say they're definitely worth the purchase because they are WAY more versatile than any of the free halftone brushes I've downloaded. I also use gradient maps a lot, and there are a ton of free, fun palettes on the Clip Studio assets store to use with those. I especially enjoy finding retro ones that are color picked from old pictures and illustrations.
What is your favorite series/subject to create for? (e.g. a fandom or original universe.)
Most of what I draw are for various TTRPGS and roleplay groups on discord. I do have several original universes I work on in my spare time as well. When it comes to fandoms, I don't draw very much fanart anymore, but every once in a while I doodle a Beatle or a sitcom character.
Who is your favorite character to draw/write/model?
My current favorite OC is Adrian, but my other main OCs D'mari and Orph have also had a good amount of time in the sun. Lore is a much more recent up-and-comer. Ignore that all my Toyhou.se pages are kind of broken! Discord ruined my formatting!!!
Which OCs are you the most proud of?
I'm really proud of Lore's design, it's super detailed but still fun to draw. I think Orph is a fan favorite character, he's got a really solid aesthetic. There are certain D'mari AU designs that I think really go off as well.
What gets you pumped up to create? Any particular inspirations, prompts, or songs that always get you to pick up a pen?
I love headcanoning and interacting with other peoples' OCs. That gets me doodling more than anything. Funny moments from headcanons or RPs are super fun to make silly art of. Also, community projects like zines and collabs get me excited. I really enjoy art in a collaborative sense!
Are you planning any large projects? (e.g. Comic, series, zine.)
I'm modding a roleplay group called Vertwick Shore which is set to open later this month after we finish processing applications. I have also been talking with my dear friend GlassRooibos about hosting a cookbook zine together, although I think we're both really crazy busy right now. There's also my annual Halloween Collab I host in October. I think the biggest project I'm working on at the moment is a children's show I'm developing for the television station I work at. The working title is Handicrafters and it's all about teaching kids how to draw and build the world around them!
Who are your favorite artists? What do you like about their work?
Ooooh this part is fun. First and foremost, I think a lot of my friends are really very AMAZING artists. Cheesy answer but I don't CARE! CHECK OUT MY FRIENDS!!! In particular, I think my bestie Ki is very talented with colors and composition, my dear friend Reda has some of the most amazing character design and concept art I've EVER seen, my dear friend Claire is an amazing illustrator in every sense, and I really really enjoy seeing my pal Rock's characters and art style. That's just a FEW of my many amazing friends.
As for people I don't know personally- I am a longtime fan of Mad Rupert's many works, from their big projects like SAKANA (fave fave fave) and Robber Robert (NSFW warning!) to their personal doodles. I really like the way they use shapes and colors, and I think the influence their art has had on mine from a young age is very apparent. I also love to see Coyoteprince's art, and am a proud member of their Patreon. They have very strong themes and aesthetics, and I especially love their Widderwood-related art.
What is your favorite piece that you've uploaded to Sheezy so far? Link it and talk about it!
My favorite so far would have to be this Tarot Card design featuring Adrian. There's a reason it's my header! It's from a very recent zine and I'm really proud of how this piece turned out. Though, I do also have a soft spot for this Yellow Submarine fanart. I've been drawing the Beatles now and then for years, so it's always really exciting to see how far I've come.
Look at your work from 5 years ago (or as far back as you can go!) and think of one nice thing to say about it!
The sheer volume of work that I was churning out when I was 18-19 is impressive in and of itself, but so much of it has really fun colors and concepts. This was before I really relied on most of my current characters, so I love seeing all of the different OCs I was making for different projects instead of using the same ones over and over! I've got to get back to that loose, raw material!
I'm currently in the art block TRENCHESSSS with plenty of time to draw more but nothing in particular I really feel like drawing. And even when I DO settle on a subject and try to draw it, the result has been a miss more often than a hit. I feel like it might have something to do with my job, which also demands a lot of creativity. Maybe I'm burnt out??? I hope not!
Either way, what do YOU do when nothing is really gripping you? When your doodles are doodoo? Give me your life hacks please
