i just want to get this off my chest because it's been nagging me for a while.
in my personal opinion, i believe a lot of the mainstream sites used for posting art sucks. like twitter, instagram and tiktok. mostly because the interactions on there are nightmares(an artist i follow on tumblr had their work being "recreated" by ai by some douches on twitter). but...i dunno. i guess i want my work to be seen more? a good amount of the artists i follow are either on instagram or twitter. it's tempting to make a new account and join either site but like...should i?
i mostly post on tumblr. sometimes bluesky & here. i gotta get my work out there somehow.
i see some people in my art spaces saying "save old art". now, i don't disagree with the sentiment. i think it's nice to look back at your old work sometimes. but to me, it feels a little strange. i draw a lot. when i look at a piece from, let's say, 3 or 4 years ago, that was a different person. there's something ephemeral about them. these characters and subjects i no longer connect with now. it's a little sad. i think keeping all these old drawings just take up space but it feels wrong to just toss 'em.
oh, well...maybe i should share some of my older works with my friends. perhaps they'd like them more than i do.
has anyone else felt this way? =p
not that this is a bad thing or anything. i think it's shocking whenever i look at a piece from a year or two ago and compare it to my most recent one. when i draw, i don't i really notice it at first. but when i put them from side to side i think to myself, "huh. things really have changed..."
i was going to talk more about this but i prefer to keep it short. i'm open to discussion, though!
hello this is my first journal i wonder if something cool will happen....
