I just saw the Meta's new policy update. In the future posts on Instagram will be used to train its generative AI features. While there is a right to object via form, your objection can be denied. That's right not only is this another opt-out policy instead of an opt-in one, Meta reserves itself the right to deny your opting out.
This policy change it seems is rather hidden, so if you are on Instagram I strongly recommend tracking the opt-out form down.
If my request gets denied I'll probably delete my Instagram account. It's heartbreaking in a way, I've been posting on Instagram for almost 5 years by now and'll have to wipe it all out of existence.
Maybe Nightshade could help, but Meta will use your descriptions too and this whole thing feels like fighting a Hydra.
So Twitter is a toxic swamp, Deviantart is a desert and Instagram plans to gut its users.
