This confused some people when I initially posted it. Hemakhnet (my friend's oc) is a necron lord in exile so he uses holograms to disguise himself.

Mehntinakh and Sahumehyt are both crypteks (necron scientists) and Hemakhnet is only disguised as one so he doesn't have the skills or patience for the job
