Besides my characters for my Ninja Monkey comic, for last year's OC-Tober, I decided to draw several of my RPG characters. This is Prisha, my weretiger monk. For generations before the colonists arrived on her island, from time to time, a child would be born into her maternal line with the blessing of the queen of the jungle. It never occurred to Prisha's mother, an island native, to warn her colonist husband of the blessing, since it hadn't manifested since her great-grandmother's generation. When Prisha's father first beheld his tiger-striped daughter, he was certain he was being punished for his mixed marriage.
Prisha was a strong-willed girl with a dangerous temper. The neighbors complained to Prisha's mother of the way she frightened her playmates. Her father's peers threatened to sue him over Prisha's destructive tendencies. Both parents agreed that she was too much for their "civil' neighborhood and so sent her off to her maternal uncle to work in the fish market.
The docks were a much rougher place which seemed to suit Prisha's personality better. She fell in with a rough crowd into her teens that ran afoul of some powerful "businessmen". The offense was serious enough that those captured were badly beaten or worse. Prisha was forced into the high streets leading to the monastery where a monk intervened and misdirected her pursuers. Indebted, Prisha served as his student after that and together they worked to harness the tiger within.
