Most of 2024 was me relearning how to make comics. Not illustrations. Comics.
One part of that was relearning how to draw out of my head again. Take the tools that are in my toolbox and use them. Webposer doesn't tell me how flesh folds on a torso, but studying anatomy does. Photos of guitars don't tell me how they look in perspective, but being able to draw perspective does. These are things you simply get to know through practice and experience. It sits in your head, not on your browser.
The other part of that was relearning how to write a comic. Figuring out what I want to say and how I intend to say it. How accessible do I want to make it? How much of a message to I want to state? How antagonistic and forthright do I want to be about that message? What amount of good dialog and good panel flow should I sacrifice for the sake of the worst medium for comics ever invented? (That's a phone screen, by the way.)
Everything is a learning experience, obviously. For me it's more of a relearning experience. The above collage was that.
