This time we got another small order that are sadly very obscure the Euphanerida which contains only two families, the monotypic Achanarellidae and three genera in Euphaneropidae. They are a very poorly understood group, sometimes they are included with the Jamoytius in the Jamoytiiformes.
First we got Ciderius cooperi which dates to the Wenlock Epoch of the Silurian 428 to 423 million years ago from the Fish Bed Formation of Scotland. This animal would have been a small one though still the largest of it's order only reaching around 5.9 inches long
Next we see Achanarella trewini which dates to the Middle Devonian of what is now Achanarras Quarry in Scotland which is where the animal's name come from
Thirdly we got Cornovichthys blaaauweni which reaches 4.52 inches in length. It dates to the Middle Devonian of the already mention Achanarras Quarry in Scotland.
Lastly and most obscure despite giving the order it's name is Euphanerops longzevus. This animal dates from the Middle Frasnian stage of the Upper Devonian 385 to 374 million years ago in the Escuminac Formation of what is now Miguasha, Quebec Canada. It is interesting for having paired ventral fins which it evolved independently and uniquely compared to other lineages of fish paired anal fins.
