The Mirror and the Mimic is a multi-part art piece i made in 2022. It has to be uploaded in three parts, due to the nature of the piece- this is part two of three.

The Mirror and the Mimic was made by situating two canvases directly across from each other, positioned so I would be sitting between them while painting. It was impossible to see both canvases at the same time. I would take one color and add one element to one of the canvases, and then would turn around and try to replicate that element on the other canvas without looking back at the first. I would then switch colors, and add a new element to the second canvas, and start the process over. This resulted in both canvases effectively copying the other- one mirrors the mimic, one mimics the mirror.

This is The Mimic, the smaller of the two canvases. I don't remember the exact dimensions, but it was the smallest canvas I had worked with at the time.
