Let's start with the obvious; who are you, and give us three things about you that everyone should know.

My name is Amelia, I’m the drummer and songwriter for my band called The Insecticides. I like writing songs about dark themes, like mental health and demons. I suffer from depression and can have some severe mood swings. I can’t help it. It is just who I am. People often mistake me for a child, because of my height and outward naivety.

Tell us a bit about where you live. How would you describe your world?

Oh. It’s wonderful here. Everything is so big, from the dirt to the strands of grass, to the trees and leaves. I am an insect after all. We have advanced technology that we got from Reverse engineering technology from those who came before us.

Not much is known about these ancient giants, except that they had advanced technology and were really big. They used to be everywhere, but have not been seen for so long that no one knows what they looked like and no one would believe they even existed if it weren’t for their large relics and old nest that still stands.

What about your family? We count found family here, so feel free to talk about them if you'd like or rather.

Oh, I haven’t thought about my family or where I came from that much. I used to live in an anthill. I never really enjoyed living there and always stood out. I can’t go back there as they would take that as a sign of defeat and would force me to live there again.

The closest thing to a family that I have now would be Bethany. She’s my partner. She’s a black widow spider and she’s awesome. She is the bassist and singer in our band. And like I just said, she is awesome. She is kind and caring and often helps me when my mood swings get too intense. She might look intimidating, but she’s a real softie. I would be back in the anthill if it weren’t for her. She’s the best.

Do you have a rival or nemesis? What are they like? When did you two meet? What makes them a problem in your life?

Not that I know of. The closest to a rival that I have would be Mark. He’s the guitarist in our band. He is self-absorbed, angry, and competitive. He thinks the world is against him and treats it like it is true.

I have tried to make him see that he is wrong and that the world cares about him. And I think that he is starting to realize it.

I wouldn’t say that he is a big problem in my life, but he can sometimes be mean and usually calls me a kid, even when he knows how much it hurts me.

Do you have a job or career? What's your dream job, if applicable?

As I stated earlier, I am the drummer and songwriter in my band. It’s my dream job. I get to write songs about my experiences and feelings and get to act them out on the stage.

Oh, I forgot to mention the best part. We’re a theatrical emotional rock band with a supernatural theme. It is really fun to come up with new acts and ways to scare the audience. There is one act where I explode into goo right beside the audience. Seeing their faces and excitement when we play always brings a smile to my face.

What are your goals in life? What's standing between you and said goals, if anything?

Hmm. My goal in life? I don’t know. I think that would be to reach as many people as possible. I want our songs to reach everyone. And I hope that they can bring help and hope to those who need it.

Do you have a theme song? If not, do you have a favourite song/band/type of music? Maybe a playlist that represents you?

I would not say that I have any specific theme song, no. It might be one that I have written. But, no I don’t think I have any theme song. My favorite type of music, on the other hand, would probably be emotional rock. The darker the better. But I can sometimes rock out to some good pop songs if I feel like it.

I think the Descended Creator trope might be fitting here. I play the protagonist in the songs, videos, and on the stage. It is fun to not only play the drums but to also act out all of our scenes.

I also think that I may sometimes fit into the Naïve Everygirl trope. I can be rather naive and that’s what made me start my band and find every member of it. My naivety can sometimes get the better of me and get me into trouble. I am also rather self-conscious of my look. Especially my height. I don’t like to get comments about my height or having people think I’m younger than I am.

I also think that Animal Is the New Man would be a fitting trope for my world. The giants that roamed the planet before have long since disappeared and animals and insects now roam the world.

What would you say was the event that kicked off your 'adventure'? How did you change your life, be it in a big way or small one? If you don't have a 'major role' in your world, what would you say is your importance within the narrative?

I would say that the event that kicked off my adventure was my 24th birthday. I had gotten a promise that I would be able to leave the anthill if I survived this long. And that a traveling music festival was visiting at the same time solidified the idea that I had to leave and join a band.

It changed my life in a big way. I had been rather sheltered for my whole life up until that point and didn’t know much of the outside world. Learning about how the world works has been fascinating. I also got to meet some new people who would become my friends.

I don’t think that I have any major role in my world. I would say that I have a rather big importance in the narrative. I am the person who started the band and the one who keeps everyone together. There wouldn’t be a band without me.

What is your greatest strength? How about your biggest weakness?

My greatest strength? I guess that is my stubbornness and my perseverance. If I set my mind to do something. It takes a lot to make me change. I think that could be a strength.

As for my weakness, I guess that would be my depression, mood swings, and my height. When depression hits me, I can become rather dark and do some rather bad things. I am so sorry about dragging Bethany through it. She doesn’t deserve that. And one way to get me depressed quickly is by commenting on my height.

Tell us about some of your favorite things. What's your favorite food, favorite hobby, favorite place? How about your favorite season? Time of day? Color? Aesthetic?

My favorite food is honeydew. It is so sweet and sugary. Nothing beats it!
My favorite hobby would be writing poems and songs and coming up with new stage ideas and acts for our plays.

My favorite place is on the stage. Sitting behind the drums and looking out over the audience is amazing and I never get tired of it.
I don’t have a favorite season, color, or aesthetic. My favorite time of day would probably be the morning. It is so important for how the day is going to be. A good morning will often mean a good day and a bad morning often means the opposite.

What talents/skills/powers/abilities/curses do you possess? Do these things make you unique in your world in any way?

I don’t really have any special skills, powers, or curses. I guess you could say that my depression is a curse. I see it as a kind of demon that tries to destroy my life.

As for talents, I like writing songs and can play drums rather well. I wouldn’t say that those things would make me unique in any way. Lots of people can write songs and play the drums.

Tell us a secret about yourself. We promise we won't tell anyone~

Okay, a secret… some of my outgoing naivety is an act. It feels like that is how the world wants me to act, so I do it. It is also a mask so that I don’t have to think about my depression all the time.

How would you describe your fashion sense? Do you concern yourself with that form of self-expression much?

Keep it simple. An earring and a green leaf backpack are all I need. I don’t worry about that kind of self-expression.
