New reference sheet I made for my oc Fae (he/it) for artfight. Also fuuucckkkk this has been sitting in my folders for so long I didn’t even realise it lol.

Not any huge changes to its design, it mostly just got significantly rounder, especially his fur. I also added some extra swirls to his design bc I like adding those into my designs any chance I can get it seems lol.

I definitely feel that I’ve improved some things here when in comparison to my old ref of him. I made the background colours much darker and complimentary to its dominate yellow/orange colouring, which definitely helps make him contrast against the colours better. I think I also prefer the rounder shape language that I’ve used here, and I plan to keep drawing him this way going forward.

I’m not entirely happy with the placement of his mane near his back and neck and I struggled with this a lot during the sketching phase. In the end I knew that if I kept stressing over it for hours on end I’d never get past the sketching phase for this piece. I decided to just make it look as half decent as I could for the time being and worry about working on the construction of my drawings for later in the form of some studying.
