Decided to replay Pokémon super mystery dungeon on my 3ds, not only bc it had been a while, but also bc I wanted to do an au with my favourite yurifuls from the Walten files Sophie Walten and Jenny Letterson!! :3

I chose to make Jenny a fennekin bc of her red hair and also bc I just thought her being a fire type made sense for her warm and friendly personality. I made Sophie a riolu bc they have similar eye shapes and also bc riolu is blue and Sophie wears a blue jacket so yk, colour association lol. I also just find the protagonists in these games fit Sophie’s character well bc they forgot what their human life was like before being turned into a Pokémon. While doesn’t it completely correlate with Sophie’s forgetting almost her entire childhood, the themes of forgotten memories and not being able to remember things that happened are there, sooo yea.

Okay Walten yap aside, I decided to try out a new rendering style with one of my favourite brushes in procreate. I’ve used this brush for a few paintings but figured they’d still work well for a lined artwork. I kind of went back and forth a bit on the specific way that I would render the characters so apologies if it looks a lil inconsistent. I like this piece though I’d like to make the characters poses and interaction less stiff in the future.

Oh I forgot to mention their team name is Jophie which is their ship name lol
