You might've noticed that the numbers of these have jumped ahead a bit. That's because I'm focusing on the very best drawings first.

When I decided to make land mammals who don't have hooves bipedal like many fairy tale and animal fable illustrations do, it occurred to me that since I also have werewolves in this setting, there might be some slight confusion as to what the difference is. I like my werewolves in what TV Tropes calls the "Man-Wolf" form, while regular wolves are the "Civilized Animal" type.

I love gremlins, but I realized that if I'm going to have them in a pre-industrial setting (in an ambiguous time period that covers the Dark Ages to the mid-19th century), I would have to give them some other kind of technology to tamper with. I do plan to have some elements of dungeonpunk and magitek, although it would have to be subtle so as to not intrude on the traditional fairy tales I'm adapting, and it'd more likely be featured in entirely original stories.
Gremlins are pretty much the only 20th century folkloric creatures I'm gonna have in the series. I felt that while I have some 20th century tropes regarding gnomes, gargoyles, werewolves and vampires, any creature I use would have to be from the end of the 19th century at the latest. This means while I have the Easter Bunny, I won't have the Tooth Fairy.

I wanted to avoid the cliché rainbow-colored unicorn, so I was inspired by Medieval unicorns instead. They're very different from today's unicorns: unlike horses, they have a slimmer, more delicate build, cloven hooves, and a leonine tail.
