"Artificial Comforts" is a piece about ignoring your troubles and finding comfort in other sources. It's a painted flower with fake leaves on a painted, fake wood background.
The piece is meant to be reminiscent of something you'd see the real version of up on a mantle or the wall of an old home, but to coincide with how nobody can afford a home, nobody can afford the real thing and settle for fake alternatives. While it's still beautiful, it lacks the authenticity of the real product, and the heart of what it means.
