order carnivora! the 16 families of the order, each represented by the type species in the type genus of the family (except for canidae and felidae, domestic dogs and cats respectively are the type species but i wanted to keep this to just wild species), and divided by suborder. carnivorans are grouped, like all taxonomic groupings, primarily by genetic relationships, but are also generally distinguished by their specialized teeth for eating meat, among other things (although a very few are instead nearly entirely herbivorous, like the red panda! they are still genetically related)
