EDIT: so I was slightly mistaken, we were in 99% totality- and as it turns out, there's a major difference between that and 100% totality! XD Still WAY PAST COOL, though, and I don't regret looking (protected, of course) at all~

There's going to be a Solar Eclipse today, and I think.. I've actually found myself excited about it for once!

I never really understood the hype around it back during the last one, I was a lot more concerned that we were underprepared and that looking at it would not be safe. I wound up isolating myself in a dark hallway with all the doors shut until it was over, just to be sure I didn't hurt my eyes (since I am the forgetful sort and goodness knows I'd peep a window if I hadn't). I was extremely bummed out about it too, and an ex-friend of mine basically berated me for making a "big deal" about it, sent something passive aggressive, and outright left a server I was running at the time. LOL.

Chaos forbid I be upset about anything without it being a problem of course, so it's taken a LOT of time to sort that mentally and work up to finally actually being even the slightest bit thrilled about it for a change! I did close all the blinds and put up sticky notes not to open them just incase I ultimately wuss out of the viewing, but my partner, roommate and I are all determined in that we all get to see it soon, myself included- We're among those in the totality range after all! 😤

..Closing the blinds completely was also for my cat since our windows are HUGE for whatever reason gshgshjshjk,,

To those of you in range who did not get to prepare for the eclipse in time and might be upset about it, you have my sympathy, since I have been there once before. I hope that you are able to at least surround yourself with those who will support and take your feelings seriously during the eclipse at this time!

Please take care of yourselves, you're always worth it no matter what's going on in the stars or when!
