the end of 2023 was kind of rough, i lost a friend in a painful way between the last drawing i posted and this one. it was past time for it to end, wasnt good for either of us at that point. so i played a bunch of solitaire and forced myself to eat through the emotional nausea, went out with one of my best friends, we got burgers and root beer and we wandered around target and i impulse bought a stuffed dog and a rainbow scratch art kit. i'd been wanting one for a while, i binged some australian animal rescue show while scratching one of the included designs, i rewatched voltron and it let me down again, but i dont regret it. and i decided to make an effort not to isolate myself for the first time in a few years. and i decided to draw for myself, not for the instant gratification of sending it to that ex friend. and it led to the best year of my life so far, both art-wise and just in general. this was the first attempt, not much more than some messy doodles i suppose, but it represents a first step into the sunlight
