In the old tale I tried to spin, she was a blacksmith they picked up at some port, but honestly? It could NOT fit in the new story at all. I put up a poll in a discord server I'm in asking what species to change her to, to effectively retcon catfolk from the world.. and it ended up bird person. Then, I suddenly got a brain blast. What if the bird that hung around Malkin was instead Nyx, a shapeshifter that aided him in both forms? Boom, Nyx is tied with Malkin now. That's his hand holding the bird.
