[Music inspiration: Hoppípolla & Með blóðnasir by Sigur Rós]

For me, music is a very powerful source of not only inspiration, but motivation in life in general.
I discovered Sigur Rós' music wholly in late 2023. It kept me company through some of my dark moments, as I kept struggling with health problems at the time on top of the regular seasonal depression. The words in his songs have no meaning, but they deeply spoke to me. They were filled with simple joy for life, happiness just from existing here.

In January 2024, I lost my cat of nine years to a bad tumor. In the aftermath of all that, with me trying to pick pieces of myself back together, Sigur Rós' song Hoppípolla was the first thing I remember bringing me genuine happiness. It reminded me of the simple joy of living.

Returning to that song now almost 1,5 years later, the song resonates with me differently now. I have grieved, got past that and started working hard on forging my path forward. Spreading my wings and soaring far above than ever before.

That is what this song means to me.
