Artenesia Candycornicus
It seems I really only make one of these a year hmmm.... should probably post journals more often than that.
In any case: IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN~!
Artfight 2025 starts in just a bit and I've already joined! Hopefully I'll be able to make a bunch of stuff.
I'm the same there as over here: https://artfight.net/~BlackSapphire so come on at me!
Been seeing a few journals asking if people are going to be participating this year. So I'm gonna throw this up saying that I am at least planning on it! Hopefully I can stay on top of things whenever it rolls around. If you're interested in following me-
I'm most confident when it comes to Animals (Real or Fantasy), or Anthro. But, I'll do my best with whatever!
I do tend to prioritize doing Revenge Attacks (Obviously, if I haven't been attacked, or have already done the Revenge in the chain, then I just do something new.) I also don't particularly care about Friendly Fire or Not.
Whelp, saw this and it looked kinda fun and I hadn't posted in a bit. I grabbed it from Wereniss and the original is by smobs.
RULES:
Answer each question in as much detail as you like. Skip anything you don't know or would prefer not to answer.
How many usernames have you had? (You don't have to share them!)
Amazingly, only 2 if you don't count mules/secondaries! (anyone else remember Neopets side accounts?) The First and This One!
What does your current username mean?
Not much! Was in a bit of a rush because LucidHoney was literally online waiting for me to finish signing up for a game she was showing me. So, it's just my favorite color when I made it and my birthstone! But it's the only one I've ever used since.
What is the first program you used to make digital art?
Ye-Olde MSPaint for Windows 98. It's actually primarily what I use for sprite art (including my icon, though not the background) I've been using Procreate more recently for it since my iPad is portable.
Where did you first start posting your art?
Mew's Hangout Oekaki! Though, now it's gone. Deviantart a little later before shifting to -gasp- the original Sheezyart! Went back awhile later, though.
What is the first piece of media you drew fanart for?
Oh god...uh, considering I can locate an old Pokemon activity book with pictures I drew from before I was 8? I'm gonna go with Pokemon.
What phases/styles has your art gone through? (e.g. Did you have an anime era, a cartoon style, a watercolour phase?)
I primarily stick to anime-leaning cartoony, and mostly fantasy/fictional stuff at that. Almost exclusively did these little chibi-blobs in Middleschool, and didn't regularly start drawing People/Humans until mid-highschool tbh. I can do Realistic/more detailed+rendered than I usually do but I find it extremely time consuming and a pain. Something will sometimes stick out to me as being worth it sometimes though.
What/who do you think has influenced your art style the most?
For a more in-general? Pokemon and Neopets are probably the biggest. Though, got to give credit to all those old how-to-draw books I'd borrow from the library, or get for presents.
As for Specific Artists online, and definitely more direct influences, I can actually pinpoint two in particular!
Mewitti and Daffupanda, in that order (since that's the order I found them online ahaha).
What/who inspired you to be an artist?
Honestly, I've always loved drawing. I loved experimenting with all different mediums too, little clay figures, did some wood whittling for awhile, watercolors and ink... But really, my friends and the art communities I managed to stumble into really kept me going.
What tools are integral to your current workflow? (e.g. Programs, brushes, references.)
Procreate on my iPad is my current program of choice. I use Clip Studio Paint and SAI if I'm on my desktop. I've tended to go through phases as I try out new things or even go back to older ones. For example, I'm trying out Krita at the moment, and I do have an old version of Photoshop CS5 (Thank You Student Discounts). But, on the other hand, I prefer the Microsoft XP version of MSPaint and have a version on a flashdrive that I use for pixel art. So, hilariously, it has ended up that I primarily use said Photoshop CS5 for making my MSPaint pixels transparent.
What improvements have you made recently?
Oh man... to be honest, I always feel like I'm spinning my wheels until I actually bother to look at an older piece I've done. It's part of the reason I keep all my old stuff. I've been trying to get better at body-types and character designs. Though, what my focus has really shifted to is FINISHING anything I start, and the speed I do so. Both of which I feel I'm getting better at, but definitely also feels like an uphill battle- lots of bad habits to break.
What steps would you like to take in the future?
Ultimately, I'd love to actually put out one of the projects I'm just sitting on at the moment. It's the biggest reason I'm trying to work on my speed/quality ratio, and finishing what I start. But, I do have something in the works! And I'm super stoked.
Hey! I'm still settling in and exploring, along with digging up older stuff to upload. But, I'm Sapphy! I actually had an account on the OG Sheezyart way back when I was in middleschool, so seeing this reboot is fun in a lot of ways! Other than that, I'm just super excited to find another gallery site I can use.
If you already follow me on my socials and other places, sorry- you're probably going to get a lot of messages that are 'Hey! Look what I found!' and linking to here, ahahah.
