I'm sure this probably sounds kinda bizarre. But I was thinking about this earlier today. What makes you decide that a piece is done? Does it have to be completely refined? Even more than that, What makes it worth posting? Because surely you haven't posted every little piece of art you've ever done, right?
I know that my standard is different for different websites I'm on. I'm more relaxed on Toyhouse than on Sheezyart, for example. I don't feel as if things need to be as Refined or Polished when I submit art to my Characters' galleries. I've also both shared constant WIPs and waited to completely refine a piece before I posted a hint of working on it. Similarly, I've refined some sketches, but some I've just left as the loosest of lines in ancient notebooks. I was just thinking about all of it.
As I was thinking, it just got me wondering more and more about how much others thought about sharing their work and what it takes for someone else to consider a work "Finished".
Truthfully, I especially got curious when I thought about Writers and wondered how they judged their work to be complete, to be honest. Because I know that most writing will look finished to me unless it's a grammatically broken mess without a literal ending. But, I know for a fact that's not the case. How does someone not just spend an eternity just rewriting the same 5 sentences over and over again?
So, I'm going around and asking everyone I know essentially by cross-posting these questions wherever I am.
(Sorry if you follow me in multiple places, you might see it pop up more than once, heh.) So... yeah-
What makes you decide a piece is finished and What makes you decide if/where you're going to share it?
