Late 2023 doodle of a character from a side story I'm working on.

So far he's only known as the Birdman -- the story thus far begins with his being dropped into a monotonous, snowy wasteland, naked and afraid, with no who's, where's, what's, or why's about him. He finds his lips replaced by a beak; lucky for him, all the locals are ravens, who understand and take him in to help him gather his bearings.

As the story progresses, he recovers little bits and pieces of forgotten memories, things so familiar but just out of reach; all the while encountering many a chimera and hybrid, and beasts only spoken of in folklore and campfire stories. There is a rumored god of this land, and the Birdman, eager to find any way to get back home, reaches out...

It's inspired entirely by Ween albums (the working title is Back to Basom, lol), especially White Pepper, The Mollusk, and Quebec. I wanted to try something different, a more fantastical setting, and liked the idea of a character with a completely human body and an animal's head (as opposed to all my anthros). The original idea was to have it be an inked comic in black-and-white, and be told through the POV of the Birdman's journal entries as he logs his adventures and discoveries. It evolved into a bit more than that!

This is just a little story on the side I've been working on and like to daydream about. Y'all know I actually haven't posted anything from my main story, my literal passion project, yet? Hopefully I'll have something to share from it soon besides oc refs and doodles -- it is my pride and joy. :-)
