I am getting back into loosening up with my character art. I used to have a zany edge to my art, but lost my spark when Calarts (art school) and work destroyed me.

I remember a Calarts teacher encouraged me to chase 'Char des' work, because he thought I was good. Some of my Calarts memories were good...

I quit social media since it was distracting and dumbing me down. I couldn't use it right so I quit. Art is now just on my blog or Discord. I can feel the creativity and zaniness starting to flow again, like I'm tapping into a source of enthusiasm, wonder and energy that social media had been sapping from me! I'm free!

Bit confused why all these aspiring 'animator/illustration' communities don't know what 'character design' actually entails.

Its not just a bland pink haired anime girl and designing her fancy outfit.

it's all the shapes in a person, like their body and face proportions.

It's caricaturing. It's a skill in itself.

If people really wanted work, they'd not just observe classic 2D Disney films shape language, but they'd draw more from life.
But all the wannabees I notice never do this and are often extremely opposed to actually listening

...their funeral.
