This other study I feel I wasn’t able to totally express well, but it’s wood material studies. I can’t remember what wood reference I used for this one as it was species specific. The test is to basically take an image of primitive forms in real life or in a photo and convert what you see into a material.
A helpful tip in this class that I learned was that based on what material you are studying, learn how much it absorbs or bounces light. Certain things are warmer and colder based on color and properties, so the shadows in this would be reddish and warm to reflect the wood's general subsurface scattering. :)
