i miss you, my moms fairy garden,
and the view out into the neighbors driveway.
i miss you starry nights talking with dad,
worrying about the sun blowing everything away.
artistic pleasures as a dark storm rolls in,
and even you, the herby smells of stink bug spray,

longing mothers cooking in winter twilight,
and playing pretend in the backyard
to chasing butterflies in their flight
oh to have sick days from school again
and kissing my stuffed animals goodnight
