This is absolutely a site that I hope to support when I can. The old DA feel with some quality of life changes is just what I wanted in a new art sharing site, apparently
My presence online is pretty much limited to tumblr and... instagram. both detestable places in many ways but they still have things that keep me around i guess. Particularly tumblr lol. I've tried many many new art sites and social platforms and such, none of which really stuck. This one has kept my attention though and I'm rather fond of it at this point
I also like feeling less rushed to put out a drawing. I'm not necessarily pressured or anything- but it is cool to see a place that isnt so heavily influenced by algorithm (though i guess that's more instagram's problem than tumblr's... still, exploring and engaging with art here is easier and more accessible than either of those places i think)
Truthfully, most of my anxiety comes from just habit. I draw quite often. In fact, unless I have some sort of Event or Other Project that takes up the whole day, I draw daily. When I don't draw and am without other big activities to do instead, I get anxious lmao- but it's more because my mind is so used to that routine that if I don't do it, the brain says "hey... something is wrong"
That all being said... I definitely have not drawn in the past few days. Some mental health stuff became a big focus and then I had to rush to get my costume done for a halloween event I attended yesterday (which was very fun!) so now I'm left with some lingering anxiety about that, hoping I'm fully able to draw a good amount tomorrow (especially since I've got commissions to finish). But also thinking about how neat this site is and how it feels less... idk, urgent to post something so consistently (even if that usually isnt as big of a worry as im sure other people have to deal with)
It is integral to my very being to always have projects going on. So after artfight I go right into cosplay mode. Usually for halloween planning but I actually have to get this done by the 25th of this month for an event at disneyland LOL
I have to make a tailcoat. I technically have one already, but that was a cheap halloween-store-level leprechaun coat that I frakenstein'd into the character's coat lmao. This time I'm trying to make it from scratch. Which is a bit much for me since I'm not exactly at Victorian Tailcoat level of sewing, but w/e. As long as it looks like the character I'm all good with it. Maybe someday a full victorian tailcoat will be a project but. That requires experience and reading patterns. Both of which I am without
I also ordered a little mouse plush to turn into a little mechanical companion (with the aid of craft foam and paint, mind you). I'm gonna use some strong magnets I have to have it perched on my shoulder which I think will be fun
I'm making good time with my animation, due of course on artfight's end. Keeping it secret will pay off well but my god I'm getting eager to show it off to more than just a journal LOL
That being said, here's more progress!
He's coming along really nicely! I should have time to be able to traditionally refine this, but i'll at least have the animation done by deadline
