May always feels like the middle of the year but technically that's June, I guess May is the precursor to the middle. Whatever. When I was in school it was just the month that signaled that it was almost summer break and I could draw and play video games all day without sleeping... I mean I did that anyway on school days but... I sure did suffer the consequences of not sleeping ^q^
Anyway lately I've been playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure, I got it last month for switch because it felt like something I'd enjoy. (and also Vinesauce Vinny played it enough to reach 9 parts so that definitely peaked my interest) It's fun although it's origins of being an Apple Arcade title are very evident when you play it, a lot of progression is tied to coming back tomorrow and also some quests ask for specific items so if you already grabbed and collected the daily amount and used it for something else you have to wait for tomorrow or use a special item to respawn them.
You might be saying "just time travel then..?" but actually time traveling corrupts your save, like they put that front and center in-game. Kind of makes me wonder how you get around changing your clock on the switch but I'm sure there's a ay to do it? But yeah like I said, definitely has symptoms of "subscription service game that would really like to stay subscripted after free trial" Still fun though. My character is a bird.
Other games I've been playing are Promise Mascot Agency, a fun title from the same team that made Paradise Killer, I really loved Paradise Killer so I felt like even if the theming was different it'd have good charm to it and I was right! I've been playing it every few days, now I know how streamers feel when they have games scheduled on specific days lol. I was worried the switch version would be a bit rough but it's not too bad, I played Paradise Killer on my PC but right now my computer is showing a bit of age and also it's moved so much and I've accidentally damaged the keyboard so I can only type using an external one. It's very.... unfun. So when I draw I have to unplug it because there's only two USB ports and I use the other for mouse. So when you see art from me, remember the conditions I'm in to have made it.. As long as this PC still boots I will keep drawing!
There's a few other games I may play but I've only gotten a little into them like In Stars and Time, I actually finished the precursor of it, Start Again: A Prologue last year and then barely touched into ISAT but it's still fresh in my mind so I can easily get back into it. Will I tho? Idk. I've been focused on finishing commissions lately. I love the work but I admit I need a nice balance of drawing my own lil characters too so after I sell 25$ more on VGen I will probably close commissions for a bit.
Maaaybe. I kind of want The Hundred Line and I wouldn't mind doing commissions to secure funds to get it..
Did anyone actually read all of this? If so, I'm proud of you. I feel like if it were in person it'd be easier to digest since y'know someone could give feedback but I'm no journalist or guy who writes video game or cartoon essays for fun. I mean if I had the focus for it I would but.... I don't. Easier to draw out my feelings.
Anyway thanks for reading!
