The portrait art for Episode 1 of Black Dwarf, made once the fic got big enough that I wanted to segment all the major arcs.
The artwork shows a monochrome Nei (an important main character in Phantasy Star II) juxtaposed against an inverted mirror version of herself looking at the viewer with a mischevious smile. The episode title is also a play on Nei's nature as a "numan", a half-human/half-biomonster creature.
