So, there's a game out there called The Griffon Legend. It's super obscure, there's only one video of it on Youtube that I could find, and while it does have a 3DS port for homebrew, as far as I know, my brother and I are the only fans of it.
I have no clue why or how, but this game is like a brainworm to me. Honestly, it's a super simple game that's a little grindy, and at the end of the day, other than being the first major game written in FREEbasic, it's nothing to write home about.
But I just adore this game. I can't get enough of it. It has its own OST, which is all experimental industrial tracks. It's got lore, delivered only in monologues the main character gives at the beginning and end of the game. There is no documentation of the game's content aside from some sample screenshots and what I've written on my neocities. I've been assembling a map of every room in the game.
Hell, I can even beat the 3ds port in about 40 minutes in game time.
My brother and I are the only active fans of this game, and I really wish there was more content.
So, uh... We might be teaming up for a remake! I've been composing my own tracks for it. While they're not the cool experimental stuff the OG had, I still think it'll be cool. I've been learning Aesprite and how to make tilesheets. I even have some crappy MS Paint concept doodles.
I really hope to bring a remake to life. I think this game is just too unique to not deserve one.
to be honest, i often feel like if i don't get something perfect the first time, i should just give up. the massive pokemon leaks show builds of games considered perfect by the community, builds that weren't perfect. there are builds of the same game from different years.
seeing these versions of games that i've loved really is humbling, yknow? it took a team of many many people years to make these games. the early builds are rough - in fact, the earliest build of bw available can't be booted normally because the test room crashes the game! but that test build later became a game that's impacted and touched so many lives. it just took time.
i need to remember that. projects take time. they're not gonna be perfect. but as long as you keep working, as you keep trying to improve your project, you will improve.
it's refreshed my motivation to think of that. i'm gonna keep working on my passion projects. what i have is rough, but it's a proof of concept. i just need to slowly improve it day by day.
I have... A ton of art to post here. Currently, I've gotten some shitpost art uploaded today, as well as my page doll, a character called Nameless. I'll post something bigger tomorrow, since it comes separated into two images, and I only have one upload left for today.
I also plan to label the Council of Origin stories as Cancelled, as the project was scrapped in 2022. I'll explain more of the new project I have, which is sort of a spiritual successor, as it has reused characters and story beats, but also a lot of new content. Maybe it's more of a rehash? I dunno. There's no titular Council anymore. They all got vaporized
