I made this scroll in summer of 2025 for an event that was cancelled due to bad weather but I got to see it awarded this year! The event was themed after the Battle of the Kalka River and hosted much combat and artistic competitions.

I based this design off of a Mongol paiza from the Golden Horde, a pass used by nobles and officials. The circle at the top is a cutout now but I didn’t get an ideal photo afterwards. This was also my first time writing with a vertical text which was really fun! The text is by no means perfect and I suspect I made a lot of mistakes but I’m very proud of how it all turned out. ✨

(The left side is bent from where I’m holding the paper… it’s the best photo I have of the metallic reflection, I promise they’re actually straight lines 😆)
