Happy Halloween! The spooky month of October comes to an end on this day. I'm in awe of how time keeps slipping through my hands. You never realize how fast it is really going until it's the last three months of the year. Despite it being one of my more favorite times of the year, I'm kind of low-energy this month. Here's a smaller general update though.
I haven't been up to many spooky things this month and I haven't been really extensively drawing spooky art. Most of this month has still been me focused on school, writing and other things. But I'm making progress on learning how to express myself in other ways more (which is good!) It'll just take me some time to get back in the swing of doing art. I even figured out how to get a handle on Procreate Dreams (animation software,) so I'll probably consider doing animations with that if I can keep myself focused on one thing. I thought of doing one of those October drawing challenges, but opted against it... felt like a little too much.
Despite all that, however, I worked on some assets for a Newgrounds game this month, so I entice anyone who comes across this to check out Pico's Dress Up Collab.
It's based off those old flash games where you dress up a character in any manner of clothing, and a lot of people contributed stuff to it.
I don't have much else to say, really.
In the words of the song I'm listening to:
Life in the universe seems exceedingly rare so,
Be advised to take care.
My sleep schedule has been consistently unpredictable this week because I went out and did a bunch of things and got so horribly overstimulated last weekend that I fell into what I'm gonna call a sleep spiral.
What that entails:
- I will have a day where I am exceptionally tired and fall asleep early.
- When I wake up the next day, it's in the middle of the night when everyone is trying to sleep, so I either force myself to sleep or stay awake.
- I fall asleep at a weird time in the day because my brain is tired and then end up sleeping 12 hours and the cycle repeats, and I never seem to wake up when I want to.
It is the most annoying thing, but almost always, I dream a lot during when these sleep spirals happen. Heck, sometimes I've even had nightmares that take on a more sinister tone from the get-go, as well, sometimes snapping me out of the spiral (really depends.) I've gotten a lot of weird dreams out of my sleep schedule always getting COMPLETELY WRECKED, some of which are the following...
- I had a dream where I read a book with a plot that was basically just Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny (if you've ever listened to that song by Lemon Demon,) and then took a trip on a train to a family meetup, somehow causing interference for an FM station in the process by using the car radio. Don't ask, I don't know either - dream logic.
- Had a lucid dream about RMC-14 (an asymmetrical combat game I play about fighting a war against off-brand xenomorphs, I did art about it a bit ago and my characters from it) where the Commanding Officer (basically the leader of the army) deployed onto the battlefield and fought against the xenomorphs with the power of dance against the Queen, which proceeded to hit a jig that every xeno on the battlefield copied everywhere, because they all have a hivemind. I was just this random Marine in the middle of it. It was such a shitpost and was also dream logic considering in that game, they would have killed each other on sight if they got that close.
- Have had multiple recurrent dreams (sometimes they take different paths) where I wake up as a robot / forcibly become a robot. I've really wanted to do art about this given this has been a thing for years, but I'm not sure how to perfectly articulate it. These are often surprisingly my most normal dreams, somehow, despite how spooky they can be - they're just oddly comforting.
A question I'm gonna pose to all who end up reading this: What are some weird dreams you have had? What kind of weird dream logic leaps get introduced in some of these? I'm genuinely curious.
